Peace sis. I'm Ziara, the Owner and Founder of Natural Rhythms and the Founder and CEO of NALAWE Worldwide.
I am a Certified Holistic Doula (CHD), Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS), Montrice, Medicine Woman, and Student of Traditional Midwifery. I am on a mission to support, nurture, and empower families as they navigate the transformational and sacred healing journey that intrinsically takes place throughout the childbearing year.
My journey into birth work began in 2020, shortly after the murder of George Floyd and the acts of police brutality against the people protesting this injustice that followed. I recognized during that time that, despite the community's successes in raising awareness of the injustices marginalized people have been facing for over 400 years on Turtle Island and for millennia worldwide, something needed to be done about it. I felt called to make a difference in my community somehow, and prayerfully sought out the path for which the creator had destined my feet to walk. Only a short while later, my prayers were answered when I learned about the sacred work of the doula. Immediately, I recognized that birth work was my calling, and I have immersed myself in the field ever since.
I officially opened my practice and began serving women as a birth and postpartum doula in August of 2020 after professionally training with some amazing and inspiring women, including a handful of elder doulas and internationally renowned African-American midwife Mama Shafia Monroe. Since then, I’ve walked alongside more than 100 families and counting throughout the various stages of their perinatal journeys. It is my greatest passion to care for women and babies throughout the childbearing continuum—pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond —and I serve both in home, hospital, and community settings.
In 2022, I spent six months living in Atlanta, Ga, where I had the honor of apprenticing under Grand-Midwife Mama Sarahn Henderson of Birth In The Tradition before heading back up to Nebraska to continue my independent midwifery studies and providing care to the vastly underserved community of women of color as a Montrice.
Over the last several years, I've had the honor of learning from Grand-Midwives, Chiefs, Medicine People, Healers, Matriarchs, Wisdom Keepers, Land and Water Protectors, Global Activists, and Professionals across Turtle Island and internationally with the intention of deepening my knowledge of our intrinsic, yet presently dismantled, relation to our Mother Earth and connection to the land. I am an advocate for humankind returning to our natural state of living and sovereign being while utilizing holistic modalities for healing the mind, body, soul, and womb, which our creator gifted us through the divine plants and sacred medicines that abound all around us. The aim is to create and cultivate independent healthcare, education, and food systems, as well as individual support networks, within Black and Indigenous communities and to bring healing and peace to the wombs of Black and Brown women worldwide.
Through divine inspiration in early 2025, I called together an incredible team of women, whom I call my honorary doulas, to assist me as I birthed and brought to life one of my long-term visions—officially founding my nonprofit organization, NALAWE Worldwide. NALAWE stands for Nurturing Access to Life's Abundances With Ease Worldwide. Our mission is to connect individuals and communities with the knowledge, skills, tools, and resources needed to uplift, empower, and sustainably nourish themselves. We empower the communities we serve through our three pillars —Reproductive Justice, Food Sovereignty, and Cultural Knowledge Equity —and in August of 2025, we officially launched our inaugural program, Nourished Nations. Nourished Nations is our food sovereignty initiative that combats maternal and infant health inequities by empowering local birth workers to eliminate food disparities for the families they serve. The Program has already achieved immense success, distributing fresh, organic, locally grown produce and providing culturally relevant nutrition education to more than 250 families in Omaha, Nebraska, since launching. Through our own innovation and grassroots community foundations, we have established a sovereign food supply chain and holistic distribution network in which community doulas receive fresh produce donated by local farmers to sustain their clients, their communities, and themselves. We have exciting plans to expand, scale, and improve our initiatives in 2026 .
I am a Wombman of multicultural Afro-Indigenous tribal roots.
I am a Keeper and Teacher of the Ancestral Childbearing and Rearing Traditions, which have been passed along to me by my elders and teachers.
I am a Warrior Woman, Land and Water Protector, Peacekeeper, Human Rights and Humanitarian Activist, and Advocate for Non-Violence.
I am a Spiritual Visionary, Dreamer, Architect, and Soul Alchemist.
I am a Forever Student of Birth, Life, and Quantum Matriarchal Wisdom.
I am a Writer, Author, Spoken Word Artist, and Poet.
I am a Singer, Song-Writer, and Sound Healer.
I am a Plant-Based Foodie, Avid Traveller, Cat and Dog Mom, Sister, Auntie, Daughter, and Friend to many.
It is my honor to have been supporting mothers and families throughout pregnancy, birth, and beyond since 2020, and I will be continuing to serve mothers and families for generations to come.
I want to help take care of you and your family in every way that I can. That’s why I set out to be your one-stop shop, providing comprehensive services to women and families throughout the childbearing year and beyond.
Helping you find empowerment within, while providing unfeigned compassion, care, and love to you and your family throughout your entire sacred journey is my speciality and calling.
Here, you are recognized as a whole person.
I believe it is vital that your physical, mental, spiritual, cultural, and emotional needs be addressed throughout your care, so that you can feel fully seen and supported —mind, body, heart, soul, and womb —wherever you may be on your life's journey.
I adhere closely to the ways of my ancestors in my practice, following the teachings and wisdom I've been given while considering and combining evidence-based research.
I strive to honor those who came before me and am working diligently to rectify the maternal experience for those who will come after me by advocating for my people to return to the traditions, principles, and practices of our wise ancestors in the realms of natural birth, motherhood, family, health, wellness, community, and beyond.
I hold this work very close to my heart.
And I've truly found my place in the world walking alongside you and your family as you embark on one of the most transformational journeys of your lives.
Throughout your journey, you can count on me to be there, loving, caring, and supporting you every step of the way, from the very beginning to the end.
During times of celebration and times of challenge, I will be there for you with encouragement, a hug, a homemade soup, a shoulder to cry on, a warm cup of herbal tea, and a compassionate listening ear.
The mothers I serve call me a member of their families because I support and care for everyone, as families do.
When you work with me, you feel loved. You know you are supported as you walk in your power and do the amazing thing you were created for with confidence.
I feel blessed every day to be walking in my purpose and doing my passion, honored every time I lay hands on a mother or hold her child, and grateful to be impacting my community and leading by example.
Some would say they found a good profession doing this work. I found my calling. I found what I was created for. I was born to do this.
It would be my honor to help you find empowerment within and support you throughout your sacred journey.
Truly, it means the world to me.
Stay loving,
-Ziara Kýre York

A part from certifications, didactic education, and formal trainings, I've spent the last several years dedicated to deep study of both clinical and holistic literature, sitting at the feet of many elders, and listening to the needs, desires, and experiences of women. It is the women I have served who have been and will continue to be my greatest teachers. To all whom I've had the privilege and honor of learning from over the years, I thank you immensely.
